PETG V0

The one-in-the-world UL-certified self-extinguishing PETG. Tough, easy to print and halogen-free — engineered for the housings and insulating parts that can’t be allowed to spread a flame.

The certification

UL-certified self-extinguishing

Prusa asked UL to test the flammability of PETG V0. Tested to the IEC 60695-11-10 standard, it earned a UL94 V-0 rating in both colors — documented on a UL Blue Card certificate.

When PETG V0 starts to burn, it forms a carbonized crust on the surface that starves the flame of oxygen and extinguishes it. It is otherwise a tough material with good thermal and chemical resistance, low warping, and halogen-free chemistry that produces less harmful fumes.

Because it is standard Prusament under the hood, it prints on common desktop machines — no industrial system required.

Industries & applications

Wherever a plastic part sits near current, heat or passengers, a self-extinguishing housing is a safer default than standard PETG.

Easy to print, no special hardware

PETG V0 runs on a standard hot end at everyday temperatures. It is more hygroscopic than regular PETG, so keep it dry (or dry 6 h at 55 °C) and print on a textured or satin sheet.

Printer, print sheet, material — validated together

No special hardware required. Nozzle 230 ±10 °C through a standard brass nozzle, heatbed 80 ±10 °C, and a textured or satin sheet rather than smooth PEI — which PETG grips too strongly. Prusa makes the printer, the sheet and the filament, so the machine profile and the material are tuned to one another. Note that UL established the V-0 classification on the MK3S+, MK4 and XL — talk to us before relying on the rating from another machine.

CoreXY with a 360 × 360 × 360 mm build volume — room for a full flame-retardant enclosure or cable tray in one piece. PETG V0 sits well inside its 290 °C nozzle and 120 °C heatbed envelope.

Satin Powder-coated Sheet

PETG bonds hard to smooth PEI — hard enough to lift the coating on removal. The satin powder-coated surface sits between smooth and textured: a lightly textured matte finish that Prusa rates for optimal PETG adhesion, with no glue stick needed. It is the sheet the XL+ ships with, sized for the 360 × 360 mm segmented heatbed. Never clean it with acetone.
