Original Prusa XL+
One job. Up to five materials.
The XL+ is the largest, most advanced toolchanger you can buy. Up to five fully independent toolheads and a lightning-fast active swapping mechanism deliver true multi-material printing across a massive 360 × 360 × 360 mm build volume - with zero cross-contamination and virtually no purge waste. Designed and manufactured in the EU & USA.
Estimated availability: End of October.

Everything that matters about the XL+, before you scroll.

Print the whole thing in one go
Supercharge your prototyping and production. The XL+ delivers massive parts using up to five materials in a single, seamless job. Combine rigid and flexible materials with soluble filaments - with zero cross-contamination and virtually no purge waste.
The XL+ takes our proven large-format platform and upgrades the elements that community members and professionals asked for: fully automatic tool-offset calibration, smarter toolhead and electronics cooling, better print quality, and a faster, easier user experience.
Five self-contained tools, one machine
Each XL+ toolhead carries its own extruder, hotend, nozzle and filament path. Nothing is shared, so nothing cross-contaminates. Parked heads stay preheated for instant swaps and power down automatically when they sit unused.
It is still the market's largest, fastest, and only active toolchanger capable of swapping whole tool types - not just filaments.
- Fastest tool swaps: tools change in seconds, while filament-switching solutions burn dozens of seconds per change on purging and reloading.
- Zero purge waste: each head keeps its own nozzle, so multi-material jobs don't fill a bin with kilograms of scrap.
- Clean color transitions: no bleed between materials, even between dark and light colors.
- Future-proof docks: the docks are sockets for capabilities, not just plastic extruders.

Active swapping
The printer drives the swap itself. Pick up, park, verify, continue - with automatic per-toolhead offsets applied every time.
Automatic tool alignment
The XL aligned toolheads with a mechanical pin - accurate, but slow. The XL+ uses a dedicated electronic sensor and does it fully automatically.
Nozzle wiper
Every nozzle is cleaned at the start of every print. More precise pre-print calibration and visibly better first layers.

Soluble supports change what you can design
With a second toolhead loaded with PVA or HIPS, the geometry stops being a constraint. Internal channels, captured cavities, and steep overhangs come off the bed clean - dissolve the support away instead of cutting it off and sanding the scars.
With five heads you can run five materials or five nozzle strategies in the same job: rigid and flexible, structural and soluble, 0.25 mm detail alongside 0.8 mm bulk infill.
- Rigid + flexible in one part - housings with integrated seals and grips
- Soluble PVA / break-away HIPS supports with no support scars
- Five colors loaded and ready, no filament changes mid-job
- Mixed nozzle sizes: fine detail where it shows, fast flow where it doesn't
- Days-long unattended runs from five 2 kg spools
Save on running costs
Filament-switching multi-material systems pay a purge tax on every single change. Over a 5-color print that's measured in kilograms. The XL+ pays nothing: each material stays in its own toolhead, in its own nozzle, ready to resume exactly where it left off.
The segmented heatbed adds a second saving - it powers only the tiles your part actually covers, so a small part doesn't pay a big machine's energy bill.

360 × 360 × 360 mm - a whopping 46.7 liters
Three times the volume of a CORE One+ and 1.5× a CORE One L. The XL+ build volume easily houses any kind of print job - full-size helmets and armor, architectural models, automotive fixtures, full-scale design studies.
And it isn't only for huge prints. When you're printing small parts, you simply fit many more of them on a single sheet - which is exactly why our own print farm runs them.
Cosplay helmets and armor
Print full-size wearable costume parts in one piece - no alignment pins, no glue lines, no Bondo.
Automotive parts and fixtures
Skip lengthy, expensive third-party suppliers. Design, test and iterate in hours - on-site.
Product prototypes
A protective case and its fitted insert, printed as one job in two materials. A prototype that behaves like the product, ready the next morning.
Design studies at full scale
Concepts that need to look like the real deal. Full-scale studies come off the bed presentation-ready.
Healthcare & education
Print CT scans of organs before demanding procedures. Multi-material anatomy models that teach at a glance.
Jigs, fixtures and tooling
Two-material jigs with built-in visual wear indicators - when friction wears through the surface, a hidden color emerges as an instant warning.
16 tiles. Only the ones you need.
Huge single-piece heatbeds warp and waste power heating empty space. The XL+ solves this with 16 individually controlled tiles across its 360 × 360 mm surface, powering only the area your part actually occupies.
The result is a perfect, flat first layer across the whole plate, no heat-induced warping of the bed itself, and meaningfully lower power draw on small jobs - a 46.7 liter machine that doesn't cost 46.7 liters to run when you're printing a bracket.
- Eliminates heat warping across a very large plate
- Substantial power savings on partial-plate jobs
- Faster heat-up when only part of the bed is in use
- Up to 120 °C, with a removable double-sided satin print sheet

One frame, three configurations. Every XL+ ships fully assembled, and every one of them is ready for more toolheads later - the frame, docks, and firmware are already there.

- Covers most professional work without paying for five heads
XL+ Five-Head
$4,149
The full toolchanger. Best for multi-material production and color work.

- Days-long unattended runs from five 2 kg spools
- The version our own print farm runs for multi-material work

The XL received a set of important upgrades that make print quality better, speeds faster, and operation easier and even more reliable.
- Faster calibration: a dedicated electronic sensor aligns toolheads fully automatically, replacing the XL's mechanical alignment pin.
- Faster printing: 10-15% faster than the Original Prusa XL. On a 60-hour prop print, that's roughly eight hours back.
- New GT 1.5 mm belts: fine repeating artifacts become far less noticeable - a visible win on the large, smooth surfaces the XL is used for.
- Cooling rebuilt for long runs: improved per-toolhead cooling for better overhangs and fewer supports, plus extra fans and heatsinks for the electronics.
- A nozzle wiper: every nozzle cleaned at the start of every print.
- A mature firmware foundation: every feature shipped across the whole Prusa lineup since the XL launched is in the XL+ out of the box.
Internally-developed toolchanger
Each self-contained toolhead carries its own extruder, hotend, nozzle and filament. Parked heads stay preheated for instant swaps and auto-power down when unused. Still the largest, fastest, and only active toolchanger able to swap whole tool types.
Unique segmented heatbed
16 individually controlled tiles across 360 × 360 mm power only the active print area, eliminating heat warping and cutting energy use. Perfect first layer, lower running cost.
Loadcell: the nozzle is the sensor
The XL+ measures nozzle-to-surface distance with a loadcell - the most accurate and reliable method in the industry. It accounts automatically for nozzle changes, surface textures and thermal expansion, eliminating manual Z-offsets and optical reflection errors.
Nextruder and quick-swap nozzles
The direct-drive Nextruder handles soft TPU with finesse and carbon-fiber composites with force, up to 290 °C. Swap nozzles in minutes: 0.25 mm for miniature detail, 0.6/0.8 mm for speed, hardened steel for abrasives, high-flow CHT for production. With five heads, one job can run five nozzle strategies at once.
CoreXY motion, fine-tuned
A rigid CoreXY frame moves the light printhead instead of the heavy bed. Input Shaper cancels frame vibration, Phase Stepping smooths the motors themselves, and the new 1.5 mm GT belts eliminate fine artifacts. High speed and print quality in one package.
Beyond plastic: swappable tool types
Because each toolhead is self-contained, the docks are really sockets for capabilities. A silicone-printing toolhead, co-developed with Filament2 and exclusive to the XL platform, arrives in Q4 2026 - real silicone on a desktop machine.
Excellent print quality
New 1.5 mm GT belts and Input Shaper firmware produce smooth layers and clean detail at speed. Clean color transitions with no bleed.
True multi-material
Rigid, flexible, soluble, and different nozzle sizes in one job - with no cross-contamination between them.
Save on running costs
Kilograms of filament saved over the life of the machine, plus a heatbed that only heats what you're printing on.
Print massive, detailed objects
46.7 liters of volume with no warping, thanks to the segmented bed and the optional enclosure.
Combine nozzle sizes
0.25 mm detail on visible surfaces, 0.8 mm high-flow on bulk - in the same print, automatically.
Future-proof platform
Swappable toolheads beyond 3D printing, a wide range of upgrades, no vendor locks, and full offline operation.

Designed to pass your security audit
The XL+ never requires a network connection. Configure the printer, slice models, and install firmware updates entirely offline without sacrificing features or performance. For environments with strict protocols, the Wi-Fi module can be physically removed.
Government agencies, high-clearance manufacturing, and companies handling sensitive data can operate with an absolute guarantee that the printer never shares a single byte with any cloud infrastructure.

Perfect repeatability
The loadcell-probed first layer, rigid CoreXY frame and automatic per-toolhead offsets hold dimensions across reprints and across machines. Qualify a part once, then reprint it.
Reliability with a paper trail
Our own print farm logs over a million testing hours every quarter. The XL+ ships with every fix developed in the last two years - it's ready on day one.
