Prusament PLA
Filament You Can Actually Rely On
Prusament is a premium-grade material made by the same people who build the 3D printers.
Guaranteed Color Consistency
Every Prusament color is formulated and locked to a documented spectroscopic recipe. We test every batch against the standard before it ships. If you run out mid-project, the next spool will match perfectly.
±0.02 mm Precision
We measure and record diameter and ovality continuously across the full length of every single spool, and we openly publish the actual data for tracking accuracy.
High Quality Verification
Every spool comes with a barcode to check its exact metrics online: diameter readings along the entire length, precise weight, and ovality parameters.
Perfect Winding Control
Wound under perfectly balanced tension on precision automation machinery. Avoids overlaps or knots, guaranteeing an even feed from start to finish.
Made in Delaware, USA
This select filament is manufactured directly by Printed Solid in Newark, Delaware. By using the exact same machinery, resin, colorants, spools, and processes as our Prague factory, we guarantee the identical ±0.02 mm precision (±0.03 mm for blends) and premium performance you expect from Prusament.
PLA is the best looking material you can print with
PLA is the easiest material to print and the first choice of most users, thanks to its good looks. It is inexpensive and suitable for beginners and advanced users alike. It is capable of printing both large and detailed models, figures, and quick prototypes that don’t require increased resistance.
Large models with little to no warping
The Prusament PLA has low shrinkage, which makes it possible to print large objects with little to no warping. This is especially useful for printing huge models glued from multiple parts. Take a look at some of our projects, such as this PrusaCaster, for example!

Tiny models with sharp details
The low melting temperature in combination with fast cooling enables easy printing of detailed parts, bridges, and complex clean overhangs without rough deformation paths.
Pros
- Easy to print successfully
- Suitable for stable prints of any model scale
- High structural surface hardness
- Low shrinkage and safe tracking layout
Cons
- For high mechanical stress profiles, consider using PETG or PC Blend
- We recommend using PETG or ASA for target high thermal thresholds
- Brittle material and difficult to dry-sand without water friction melt

Large color palette available
The best-looking models from FFF 3D printers are usually made from PLA. The material has a matte to satin surface finish, which hides layer lines cleanly to look more professional. Perfect for gadgets, toys, home decor models, costume parts, and detailed replicas.
Everything you need to know before loading the spool:
Ideal choice for starting out
PLA is the most forgiving material to handle. It doesn't require enclosures, special structural environments, or advanced post-processing workflows to yield amazing out-of-the-box consistency.
Keep your print surface clean
Wipe your workspace cold using Isopropyl alcohol on a paper towel. Cleaning off residual standard fingerprint oils maximizes first layer chemical adhesion and stops curling.
Drying guidelines
PLA is slow to absorb moisture compared to Nylon or TPU. However, if stored unprotected in high humidity and stringing shows up, bake the spool at 45–50 °C for 4–6 hours.
Always post-process with wet sanding
Dry sandpaper creates instant friction heat that softens and strips PLA details locally. Sand with running water to maintain crisp structural geometry paths cleanly.
Assembly and gluing methods
Cyanoacrylate (standard liquid superglue) creates optimal industrial bonds across flat connection points. Avoid raw acetone baths unless verifying compatibility metrics against specialized coloration pigment profiles first.
