Matteforge Advanced Matte PLA has a unique Matte finish resulting in a printed object with nearly invisible layer lines.

From the manufacturer:

REDUCE VISIBILITY OF PRINTED LAYER LINES

MatteForge is a new filament that produces a beautiful matte, low gloss finish right off the print bed.

This innovative filament produces a finish unlike any other filament. MatteForge reduces the visibility of printed layer lines and gives a professional appearance to all prints. This is achieved whilst enhancing the contrast between light and shadow to highlight fine details. This highly desirable effect makes MatteForge perfect for industrial and product design, and technical engineering models.

BEAUTIFUL MATTE FINISH

We decided to launch MatteForge as we were tired of the usual glossy finish associated with almost all PLA based materials.

MatteForge gives an enhanced matte finish that exceeds even the best ABS filaments but has the ease of printability associated with PLA. This is done without the need for additives that might weaken the filament.

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES

Not only does MatteForge have a stunning low gloss finish, it also has very good mechanical properties such as high impact resistance and good flexural strength.

MatteForge is very easy to print so is great for both beginners and printing professionals. As it is PLA based it does not warp, but more importantly MatteForge has no odour.

MATTEFORGE SETTINGS

MatteForge is very easy to use and has the same print settings as typical PLA. MatteForge is compatable with even the most basic 3D printers and a heated bed is not required.

My Favorite PLA Filament

I love using this PLA filament. I prefer the matte sheen over the glossiness of standard PLA. It strings less. It's a bit more flexible compared to standard PLA. This helps with raft/support removal. Regular PLA can be painful when it digs into my fingers. And when regular PLA snaps it normally creates a sharp edge. This PLA is less jagged and usually cracks more than snaps. The only issue I wish could be addressed is how unavailable is always is. Even before the pandemic and supply chain issues. It's really hard to get, and it sells out quick when it is in stock.

My favorite filament

This is my favorite filament by far. Prints easily and looks incredible. Great for calibrating your printer because the matte finish gives high contrast shadows. Printing at a lower temp will eliminate all gloss and a bit higher will give a more satin gloss. The only thing I wish they would improve is the filament tolerance (.05mm) to .02 because there can be some minor layer width differences visible on very small precise parts. For a fairly expensive filament labeled Pro, this should be the standard.
