This filament will literally make your work shine! During the day it’s a beautiful creamy color which prints to a perfect smooth finish. In the dark, your prints will start to glow like you would not believe. A special highly concentrated phosphorescent pigment is matched with our PLA/PHA compound, so it’ll print just like our other PLA/PHA 3d printing filament. The concentration of the pigment is much much higher than other glow in the dark PLA. If you’ve been underwhelmed by other glow in the dark PLA, give this a try. You will be amazed.
Glowfill and other glow in the dark filaments are abrasive due to the highly concentrated phosphorescent pigment. If you plan on using a lot of this, watch for nozzle wear and replace as needed. For very long prints, consider a nickel plated or hardened nozzle.
Advised 3d printing temperature:
Advised 3d print speed:
40 – 100 mm/s
Advised Heated bed (if you have one, not strictly necessary)
TIP! For a better and longer lasting glow time print your models with 100% infill and charge up your models with some high power lights, or just let them enjoy the sunlight for a bit.
*3d printers have lots of different types of hot-end which makes it extremely difficult to give temperature advice. We feel our temperature range holds for most 3d printers, but should be considered as a starting point for you to find the temperatures that work in your setup. Don’t be afraid to go either higher or lower then our advised temperatures if you feel your set-up needs this.
Excellent diameter tolerance
An important machine in our production are the laser measurement systems used to check the diameter of our filament real time during production. It’s measured over 1000 times per second and helps us guarantee that each spool of colorFabb 3d printing filament produced within tolerance. We can guarantee 0,05mm +/- on both 2,85mm and 1,75mm colorFabb 3d printing filament, which means you can rest assured that your printer is extruding the exact amount of material.
Within minutes of production a spool of colorFabb 3d printing filament is sealed. To go the extra mile, we’ll also seal the fancy cardboard box that we use to ship our product. You can make sure colorFabb 3d printing filament is fresh and ready for 3d printing when you’re done unboxing. Amount of filament on the spool is 750g per colorfabb’s standard packaging.
The colorFabb testlab features a wide range of popular 3d printers. We’re continuously testing on our 3d printers to keep checking the quality of the materials we produce and to develop exciting new materials for the maker community. If your not sure how to print with our materials on your 3d printer, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
The following printers are used in our lab:
Colorfabb developed its own unique blend of PLA/PHA which results in a tougher and less brittle PLA 3d printing filament. PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate) is like PLA a bio-polyester, so our unique blend is still 100% biodegradeable and compostable. The addition of PHA makes the material a little more opaque than standard PLA, which results in very vibrant colors. It is printed at similar temperatures and extrusion settings to other PLA and can be printed on any printer that can print in regular PLA and prints smoothly.
In addition to the unique properties of the material, this filament is made to extremely high quality standards. Diameter is maintained at 1.75mm +/- 0.05mm with many operators reporting no measurable variation in diameter.
This listing is for opaque colorFabb colors containing pure PLA/PHA.
We also offer translucent colors, wood filled, metal filled, phosphorescent glow in the dark powder filled, and _XT PET copolyester filaments from colorFabb.
Each spool contains a minimum of 750g filament neatly wound onto a large diameter spool.

Similar to XT, NGEN is a copolyester developed in partnership with colorFabb and the Eastman Chemical Company. It is part of the Amphora 3D™ line of Eastman polymers.
In 2013 Eastman and Helian Polymers entered a joint development program in order to develop new unique 3D Printing materials for Desktop 3D Printing. Many formulations of specialty polyesters have been tested for functionality, printability and safe printing.
NGEN provides the following benefits:
Advised 3D printing temperature:
220-240C - Varies by hot end type. If infill is breaking apart, you will need to decrease speed or increase temperature.
Advised 3D print speed:
40 - 70 mm/s - Varies by hot end type. If infill is breaking apart, you will need to decrease speed or increase temperature.
Advised Heated bed:
For colorFabb_XT we advice to print on a heated bed. After printing, the build plate needs to cool down to about 20-30 C at which point you can remove the printed part.
Some users with Borosilicate Glass beds have reported taking chips out of the bed with copolyesters. Here is a solution to consider if that happens to you.
Each spool contains a minimum of 750g filament neatly wound onto a large diameter spool. The spools are shrinkwrapped, boxed, and then shrinkwrapped again.View full product details
So, you’ve heard all about how awesome colorFabb filament is. You really want to try it, but just can’t bring yourself to shell out the cash (or bitcoin) to invest in full spools. We have a solution. Sample packs. Each sample contains the equivalent of approximately 50g of PLA coiled and secured with a zip tie. This amounts to roughly 16m of 1.75mm filament or a little under 6m of 2.85mm filament.
A little bit of fine print about our sample packs:
Looking for more Hatchbox stock? Unfortunately, we have not been able to get any for a while. More about that on our blog here.
